Farm Aid has announced its plans for the organization’s 30th annual concert event this year: the show will take place on September 19 in Chicago. The organizations’ four principals, Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews will, as always, perform at the event.
They’ll be joined by Imagine Dragons, Jack Johnson, Kacey Musgraves, Old Crow Medicine Show, Mavis Staples, Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real, Holly Williams, Insects Vs. Robots and Blackwood Quartet.

Young has been using Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real as his backing band, both on his latest album, the Farm Aid-themed The Monsanto Years and on his current tour. The band’s leader, Lukas Nelson, is the son of Willie Nelson; Lukas’s brother Micah Nelson (who also leads Insects Vs. Robots) is in the band as well.
Each year, Farm Aid brings together a wide variety of artists, farmers and fans to raise awareness of the importance of family farms, and to raise money for aid farmers in financial trouble.
